The United Kingdom is ready to advance with using the entire amount of seized Russia's holdings to bolster Ukraine's war effort, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the heads of state of the Britain, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany stated that this unified step would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and urge the Russian Federation to participate in talks.

They clarified that the move would be implemented in tight collaboration with the United States.

UK sanctions have immobilized in excess of £25bn of Russia's resources since the Russian government initiated its widespread offensive against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. However, up to this point, money allocated to Ukraine using Russian assets had solely been drawn from gains and dividends generated on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their goal to advance efforts toward employing the total worth of the immobilized Moscow's national holdings to halt hostilities.

He added that further measures over the next period would heighten the tension on Russia.

This statement follows European Union leaders convened in the Danish capital last week to debate using frozen Russian funds for a 140-billion-euro credit to the Ukrainian nation.

Last month, US President Donald Trump urged international partners to confiscate or utilize seized Russian assets, based on reports.

The total of seized Russia's assets in the Europe is calculated to be nearly €211bn.

Leader Zelensky encourages Britain's Sir Keir Starmer to take part in the Purl initiative

Russia launched widespread aerial attacks across the Ukrainian territory on Friday, resulting in blackouts in many areas of the capital city, Kyiv, and multiple additional areas.

Two people were lost their lives and a minimum of 20 people were injured in the strike, the Ukrainian government stated.

In a post on X after the strike, Zelensky commented that the premeditated assault targeted civilian and energy infrastructure.

"The necessity is not mere statements but concrete steps - from the America, Europe, and the Group of Seven - in supplying defense mechanisms and applying sanctions," he stated.

"Every sanction decision weakens Russia's war machine," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.

In the same period, Zelensky informed media outlets he would press Sir Keir to join the Purl programme, under which partner nations buy weapons from the United States to donate to the Ukrainian forces.

While applauding the UK's consistent assistance for Ukraine, he noted it should indicate firmly that it would take part in the initiative, as well as apply further restrictions on Russia.
