Students noticed multiple clues indicating computer-created content:
- Inconsistent language usage between US and British English
- Unusual file names
- Surface-level information with sometimes allusions to inappropriate US regulations
- Narration abruptly changing to a different accent before reverting
Participant Disappointment and Future Anxieties
One student shared serious anxiety about his career future, saying he felt “stuck with this course” after putting significant time.
Another participant, undergoing a career change, stated he had opted for the course for substantive knowledge rather than just a qualification.
“Being seated there with content that is merely not deserving of anyone's time,” he stated, “when you could be devoting that time actually participating in something valuable, is truly discouraging.”
